Just a reminder that for math tomorrow you need to come prepared with your research question in mind and the three arguments that will frame your assignment. Also, please bring any materials that you'll need for our language block tomorrow (you'll be presenting at 1:45 so you'll have to have your mini group assignment done). And get ready -- our culminating reading assessment is coming up on Wednesday so review your feedback if need be!

Math:
"Jason" is hyped up because he got a survey back that said the majority of people liked hockey better than soccer. Some of his friends aren't convinced because the results were so close. Help "Jason" manipulate the results to prove that people like hockey way more.
Hockey = 17
Soccer = 14
Don't forget that our Data Management Test is tomorrow. Please review your notes/examples on mean, median and mode, circle graphs, misleading graphs and biased surveys.
History:
Finish the back page of your history sheet as to whether or not your "person" will emigrate to New France. List thorough reasons.
Also please bring in some newspapers if you can tomorrow. I should have enough but just in case -- we'll need them for language.
DRA is done. Thanks for the great work everyone!
-Mr. Charalambous
September 25, 2012

On VoiceThread post the following answer:
"Ms. Voskakis' class thinks that the message in the X-Men is 'don't trust anyone.' Do you think they're right? If not, explain to them what you think the real message is."
Remember to use evidence.
Finally, for Monday, please bring in newspapers for language. We'll need them for the next couple of days.
Have a great weekend!

September 20, 2012
Math: Please don't forget that tomorrow we have our make up math quiz. Go on to your VoiceThread accounts and review the feedback that I gave you.
Language: Think about the many themes that we explored in "X-Men" today. What issues does the film address? What do you think the "message" is in the movie? How can we apply the lessons learned in our day to day lives? Start thinking about that now -- on the weekend you will be posting your ideas on VoiceThread. Our culminating task is just around the corner!

Hi everyone, just one small piece of homework for tonight. I want you to go on VoiceThread and upload your interpretation of "The Fighter." In google images, search "the fighter gym class heroes" and use the first image that comes up to upload to VoiceThread. Afterwards, all I want you to do is read your response to question 1 that we did in class today.
That's it. Simple, no?
-C
P.S. If you didn't finish question 1 in class then obviously, it's for homework ;) Also, I'll try to get those comments up from your math onto your VoiceThread accounts -- so keep an eye out for that.
September 18, 2012
Math quiz tomorrow. Review the homework sheet on misleading graphs (bias), circle graphs and mean, median and mode. I'm sure you'll all do great!
Best of luck,
Mr. C
P.S. Check your VoiceThread accounts. If you uploaded your response to Frog Belly Rat Bone before 8:00pm last night, you would have received feedback from me.
Also, for those of you who have iPods/iPads/iPhones don't forget to download the VoiceThread app to your devices; it will make your life infinitely easier!
September 17, 2012
Math: complete questions 1-5 on misleading data from today's handout
Language: go on to your VoiceThread account and add your interpretation of the book, Frog Belly Rat Bone. What is the theme and how do you know?
P.S., you can type up your responses if you choose to!

For those of you who haven't uploaded your profiles yet, you need to do that ASAP. Upload your image and comment as to why you uploaded that picture and how it represents you.
