With regards to your introductory paragraph, like we in the modeled example, it's important that you:
1. Introduce the topic. Hook the reader with something interesting about the issue (maybe a stat) and why should they be interested?
2. State your thesis. It should be short. Don't ramble on. One simple sentence will do.
3. Map out how you're going to prove it to them. Tell the reader what three arguments you're going to use to prove your point.
